Meet Shae, Chekoh's newest Mama Model.
We met Shae via our Insta DM's and if we're honest, we've all felt like besties from first emoji 😍!
Since then we've caught up for a photoshoot and thought what better way to introduce her and her beautiful family than with a blog.
Tell us a little bit about you and your family?
My husband Fabian and I have two beautiful children Kingston who is almost 2 & Gigi who is 10 weeks old. We live on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Fabian is fifo and lucky enough to work 6 months of the year leaving plenty of time to play and hang out all together. Our favourite things to do would definitely be wine and dine which has absolutely changed since having our children, those restaurants now look more like fish and chips or takeaway in the park but whenever there’s a chance for a cocktail and some tapas I’ll take it. We love getting away for little trips whenever we can and spend a lot of our time outdoors whether it be by the beach/water fountains or at the park.
We love to showcase real parents here at Chekoh. Could you tell us how important representation is and how you feel being a beautiful curve model for us?
Being a plus size woman in todays world is honestly awesome. If you had asked me that question a few years ago the answer would have been completely different. Seeing plus size woman finally showcased has been the biggest game changer. I would have never had the confidence to baby wear or even wear half the things I do now if it wasn’t for seeing brands showcase REAL women! THANK YOU CHEKOH 🙌 To be able to relate to a brand/ person and actually envision yourself wearing something is incredible. It’s one of my favourite reasons for being a curve model for Chekoh. Being able to inspire other plus size women who may not have had the confidence to go out and get the carrier and wear the hell out of their bubba and do it with pride.
"I adore the brand and all of you ladies."
How has babywearing helped you and when or where is your favourite time to wear your little one?
Baby wearing has literally saved me and my sanity. My husband is fifo so I’m a one woman show two weeks out of every month! I’m able to cook, clean, do shopping and play with Kingston all whilst wearing Gigi. My favourite time to wear Gigi would be when taking Kingston to the park, it allows me to be more hands on with him and still keep her close and happy.
What has been the highlight of your journey through parenthood so far?
The highlight of parenthood so far would definitely be seeing Kingston love (often smother) on Gigi. He is absolutely obsessed with her. He kisses her a thousand times a day and is constantly saying “Hi Yiyi (Gigi)” in his little voice. Gigi loves following him around the room with her eyes and has the biggest smile on her face whenever he sits down to chat away to her in his own little language.
Your top 3 newborn must haves?
Hands down my first item would be my Chekoh Carriers! It definitely makes running around and entertaining a toddler so much easier. Witching hour is much more bearable with my carrier as I'm not stuck rocking in a chair and can actually achieve the nighttime routine to somewhat of a degree.
Secondly would be my baby Bjorn bouncer. When Gigi isn’t being worn she loves to bounce away and take in her surroundings.
Thirdly would be my Bunnie Caddie, I used this for my hospital bag and have continued to use it daily around the house for all the kids nappies, wipes, swaddles etc. easy to pop in the boot or carry from room to room for easy changing and so on.
What's next for you and your family?
We are currently in the process of building our new family home. We are super excited to make some beautiful memories once this is finished. Crazy days by the pool and adventuring to the park 😍 Our ultimate goal is to move to Bali for a year so putting that into action is the dream over the next few years!
