Back vs Front Carry; Which is better for your Baby?

Back vs Front Carry; Which is better for your Baby?

'Is it better to Back Carry or Front Carry your Baby?'

The answer is either! It really comes down to what you want out of your Carrier. Both styles of carrying offer valuable benefits, so let's figure out which one suits you.

For a front carry (chest-to-chest) it is recommend that baby be both 4 months and 5kgs. We recommend you only attempt a back carry with a baby who is older than 5 months and can sit unassisted with confident head and neck control. For smaller babes, we suggest a chest-to-chest carry with a Size Clip.

Front Carrying

Easy as a few clicks!

A front carry is most parents go-to when starting their Babywearing journey. It's straightforward and baby is fully visible when looking down. Just a few easy clicks and you and your babe are all set!

Connect through expression

Front carrying is a great way to free up your hands whilst still being able to make eye contact with your bub. Have you heard of connection through expression? Communicating through expression helps you to connect emotionally with your baby all while developing and strengthening your bond. Cute!

Easy to reach

Front carrying allows you to easily monitor and reach your baby at all times.

Back Carry

Even though a back carry may be a little more advanced, we provide detailed tutorials and demos which you can find on our socials and website (we've even included the video above to make it that much easier for you!) We also provide one-on-one video consultations where one of our trained babywearing educators can give you the personal guidance you need. With all the extra help we offer there's no reason to not give a back carry a try, and here's why...

More mobility

Have complete front freedom with a back carry. For the Mama's on-the-go, you may find a back carry the perfect carry for bending, carrying, adventures and house chores.

Summer approved

For the bigger busted Mama's, staying cool in the Summer is a must! Try back carrying to keep the heat off your chest on those warmer days.

With this carry style your little one can look over your shoulder and see everything you do. If your little one loves visual stimulation, share the experience and explore together.
